Abstract Bird in Green and Peacock Blue

My latest work is a gorgeous abstract that took on many twists and turns during the creation process.

Title: “The Peacock”
Size: 24 x 13 Inches\\
Medium: Acrylic on canvas

Blue green abstract painting that shapes a peacock bird with exuberance.
The peacock is an abstract painting that features bright greens and deep blues. Dark and simple outlines create a delicate shape.

The hazy effect of the background colours preach a style that I hope to revisit one day. I love painting like this, and the gentleness of the colours blending together is so tranquil to practice.

I enjoy this area of the painting: there are bright blue splash-like brush strokes over top of a black field reminiscent of water that the proud peacock will splash in.

The four sides were painted black to accentuate the colourfulness of this piece. It exists better as a colourful piece with black sides to tone down its presence in a room.

It’s one of my favourite pieces: I see it as an expression of a thought only Stephanie could have. Whether or not that follows in the solipsistic tradition, I am unsure. I try to stay in the middle of the road when it comes to philosophic concepts these days.

Mountain Abstract Landscape Three Piece Series

During an experimental session of making art canvas, I tried my hand with using thin and lighter weight wood to build small 5 x 7 inch frames. My intention was to design something that had commercial applications; and right now in the online art world it is simple to make small art pieces that can be easily shipped at a minimal cost.

My three piece art series is a cerulean blue and gold set of abstract landscapes entitled:

01 Sea Breeze
02 Sea Breeze
03 Sea Breeze

The first is a rocky scene.

The second has points.

And the third is simply the sun, alone against the world. I used acrylic texturizer and pouring techniques to layer hues of blue over top other darker hues. The result is a backdrop with uneven colours that look like an abstract sky. “Stephanie’s sky” as I like to think of it.

Ocean Abstract Acrylic with Gold

My latest piece is entitled “Violent Weather”.

Size 11″ x 12″ // 28 cm x 30.5 cm

This abstract ocean landscape shows a violent storm wherein waves crash against each other amidst a dark and treacherous sky
Violent Weather by Stephanie Konu

This abstract ocean landscape shows a violent storm wherein waves crash against each other amidst a dark and treacherous sky. Swirling patterns of dark storms lurk in the background, and as a result, the waves are exceptionally high.

At the peak of the tallest wave, water pierces through the barrier that separates the scene from calmer sunlit tranquility. The break in the barrier allows glimpses of majestic gold to cascade outward and spill into its new habitat.

The ground work for this piece was an acrylic pour within  which I used swirling techniques for the deep blue background. With the foundation laid, I used various hues of blue to form and shape the ocean wave.

Gold acrylic creates a beautiful contrast against blue, and is spread out as flecks across the piece. This piece is very beautiful, yet very abstract due to the risks taken to achieve the composition. I would really love to hear what YOU see in this very vivid piece.

Silver, and blue acrylic abstract outer space

“Silver Tiger Nebula”

Acrylic on canvas, 2018.

23x 18 inch

My latest acrylic on canvas is a silvery and eclectic blend of colours that reminds me of a space nebula.

Deeply layered, and complex fields exhibit depth. A black underpainting supports a thick metallic ocean of iridescent silver.

On the outer edges, blue and violet are blended; creating an intense and chaotic scene of the cosmos.

There are so many colours present that the size of this piece does not do it justice.

Finally, the stripes in the lower right quadrant remind me of of a tiger’s paw reaching out and across the nebula. As it reaches, I can only imagine the distances it will cross.

What do you see?

Abstract Acrylic on Wood in gold, blue, and iridescent green

Latest Scratch Work: Herald Angel 2018-
Acrylic on wood panel by Stephanie Konu

20181113_201343

This abstract 10 x 10 inch wood panel is a wild ride of eclectic technique, unusual colour, contrast, and a psychedelic trip into the imagination.

I named it Herald Angel because the golden field that sits in the north-west corner represents an angel’s visit. Darkness swirls below. Iridescent green floats away into the atmosphere. Its existence is alien and benevolent.

20181114_150430

I love how the heavy iridescent green floats over the complex blue background. The swirling blue is reminiscent of an ocean from a satellite view of a planet.

Electric Yellow Acrylic Abstract on Canvas

My latest painting is a splendid mix of bright yellow, iridescent blue, and white. There is a surge of excitement in this piece, and some mystery as well.

20181114_203832.jpg

As of yet, this painting is unnamed, which may as well be since I feel like it will have a short time with me as its owner. The eclectic blends and pops of colour on this unnamed work make it ideal for digitizing– a run through on Photoshop would produce some interesting lines that are invisible to the naked eye.

I feel like there is a story being expressed here- the bright yellow is the base layer, excitement and uncontrolled raw delight. The Id.  Over head, clouds of opaque blue close in, partially encompassing our view of the excitement. Protective. Finally, white snow splashes and swirls at parts encroach over it’s lesser layer. Reason and altruism.

20181114_203853.jpg

A few blue explosions that look mysterious in their origins remind us to expand once in a while.

As always, I love comments!

Gold Coast Abstract Acrylic

My latest 13 inch x 13 inch// 33 cm x 33 cm artwork is an abstract birds-eye-perspective of islands. It is entitled “Gold Coastal”.

20181103_172846

The scattering of lush green islands across a deep cerulean blue coastline is pleasing to the eye. It is easy to find relaxation as the eyes travel from island to island; imagining the people, places, and things that live on each one.

20181103_163216

I used real 10K gold leaf to emphasize three areas of the archipelago setting. For me, there is always power in trilogy as it carries a deep personal meaning. There are darker shimmering layers throughout the piece to emphasize the complexity of the shoreline. I limited my use of relief in this piece, although I think a bit more texture would have been a good replacement to add grains of detail along the coasts.

Cream-Swirl of Moss Green Acrylic on Canvas

My latest piece was an unexpected development of blending and contrasting colours. Using acrylic pour techniques, hunter green and moss are suspended in each other to give the appearance of cream meeting coffee.

20181103_173124

The left and bottom edges have paint splatter to amp up the drama and turbulence of the environment, while yellow specks of sunlight peek through the dense cloud space. The title of this work is simply G.C.

20181103_173352

My favourite part of the work is seen above- the meeting of the light creamy green with dark green. The figure is ghostly, and resembles a human face that seems to possibly be aghast. At its heart is a void of cerulean blue- as if an explosion removed what was there before.

I love the abstract art because it allows the viewer to decide the story of what they see. I am continuously impressed by the imaginative responses I get from people about what they see in my artwork. It is truly amazing to reflect on the power of those imaginations, and also how the experiences or mindsets of people influence what they see.

Blue Abstract Art with Yellow Acrylic

My latest artwork is both relaxing and bold. Cerulean blue is contrasted with a sharp yellow line that spans the face of the piece.

Covered Path Acrylic on Canvas by Stephanie Konu

The piece is entitled Covered Path and features a semi-obscured bright yellow glimpse of a sun reflecting off of a stormy ocean surface.

Arctic blue, white, yellow acrylic abstract art

Splashes of cerulean blue, white, and turquoise give life and movement.

The arctic white bursts out like an explosion into bright yellow sunspots.

A small piece of gold leaf adds a reflective and eye catching aspect to the work. When the sun catches this piece, this tiny piece of gold acts as a reminder to stay positive and to cultivate gratitude.

The white splatter spot brings the piece together, serving as a reminder that calm, tranquility, and peace is ever present in the universe.

Blue Ocean Acrylic on Canvas

My latest piece is ultra calm and tranquil. Continuing with the 13 x 13 inch canvas size series, I painted and poured this acrylic on canvas abstract using premium heavy duty cotton canvas stretched over thick 2×2 wood.

20181021_144146.jpg

The title is Homonym and I feel like I can just fall into it..

20181021_134559.jpg

The top of the piece is an abstract setting of the sun cascading over water that is becoming increasingly rough. There are wisps of grey storm clouds co-mingling with the sun- perhaps to ultimately overpower it.

20181021_134608.jpg

There is movement in this piece, yet mysteriously a light triangle coloured object is adrift within it. I love how this one turned out!
