My latest piece is entitled “Nights over Algonquin part 2”. It is part of a series I did with a deep-space black background.
The concept was to create a piece where the colours would jump out and create a sense of excitement.
Neon permanent green flows along the bottom of the piece as the dependable earth cradles us. A sea of blue is nestled within the fields of green as well; but, what I enjoy most about this piece is the sky.
In my eyes, the gorgeous blendings and splashings of silver, blue, and pearlescent violet against the deep Mars Black background remind me of an surrealistically neon light. The colours are almost alien, yet still emit a feeling of familiarity. The result is an excitement-filled piece that allows me to discover something new to love about it each time I lay my eyes upon it.
Latest Scratch Work: Herald Angel 2018-
Acrylic on wood panel by Stephanie Konu
This abstract 10 x 10 inch wood panel is a wild ride of eclectic technique, unusual colour, contrast, and a psychedelic trip into the imagination.
I named it Herald Angel because the golden field that sits in the north-west corner represents an angel’s visit. Darkness swirls below. Iridescent green floats away into the atmosphere. Its existence is alien and benevolent.
I love how the heavy iridescent green floats over the complex blue background. The swirling blue is reminiscent of an ocean from a satellite view of a planet.
Thank you for checking in. I do this blog as an artistic expression for myself, so I love your comments!
My latest artwork is both relaxing and bold. Cerulean blue is contrasted with a sharp yellow line that spans the face of the piece.
The piece is entitled Covered Path and features a semi-obscured bright yellow glimpse of a sun reflecting off of a stormy ocean surface.
Splashes of cerulean blue, white, and turquoise give life and movement.
The arctic white bursts out like an explosion into bright yellow sunspots.
A small piece of gold leaf adds a reflective and eye catching aspect to the work. When the sun catches this piece, this tiny piece of gold acts as a reminder to stay positive and to cultivate gratitude.
The white splatter spot brings the piece together, serving as a reminder that calm, tranquility, and peace is ever present in the universe.
