Blue and Silver Acrylic on Black

My latest 10 x 10 inch // 25 cm x 25 cm piece is an acrylic on canvas, with blue and silver blended over a black negative space. I have been having strong desires to paint with black negative space, (or white), and focusing on depicting experiences that float over darkness like an echo. Deep stuff. What makes the concept special to me, is that I have been able to capture a sweet spot in my backyard garden that with the correct sunlight, my work dazzles!

My latest piece depicts a somber breath. There is loneliness in the encroaching darkness, and so the heart of the blue ethereal field burns in a white silver light.

The silver heart center does, interestingly enough, seem to emerge as a lopsided heart. Or Maybe at least a lung.

This piece has an ultra calming vibe to it. I feel so relaxed when I lay my eyes on it. I am really happy with the deep black background, as I think it brings more focus to the heart of the painting.

Thanks for stopping by,

Green, blue and silver acrylic abstract

My latest work is entitled “Two Moon Lagoon“.

20181222_115118

I used an acrylic pour method as the background; mixing white and silver as the colour for waves splashing on the coast. If you look closely, you can see a high tide wave emerging from the lower left side.

As the acrylic pour developed: a coral-like branch protrudes out into the heart of the painting. The branches have a fractal quality to them, which pull the eyes deeper in.

Over the vista, and through the green limbs of an alien-looking cactus plant; two moons co-orbit the sky. The presence of two moons makes evident that this abstract scene takes place on another world. In my imagination, the piece looks out from the reeds to the sky on a clear night. In a warm atmosphere, an ocean wave washes on to the shore sending water splashing up into the night sky. The oddly shaped plant is my favourite part as it is totally imperfect, but works well with the painting’s alien theme.

Abstract Acrylic on Wood in gold, blue, and iridescent green

Latest Scratch Work: Herald Angel 2018-
Acrylic on wood panel by Stephanie Konu

20181113_201343

This abstract 10 x 10 inch wood panel is a wild ride of eclectic technique, unusual colour, contrast, and a psychedelic trip into the imagination.

I named it Herald Angel because the golden field that sits in the north-west corner represents an angel’s visit. Darkness swirls below. Iridescent green floats away into the atmosphere. Its existence is alien and benevolent.

I love how the heavy iridescent green floats over the complex blue background. The swirling blue is reminiscent of an ocean from a satellite view of a planet.
