The past two years have brought a number of changes to my life; the biggest change being my entry into motherhood. Some of you may have noticed that I looked quite pregnant in the photos of my trip to the Island of Madeira in 2017. I was over seven months pregnant at the time of that trip, so I like to think that the baby enjoyed the trip as well.
At the beginning of 2018 I had a healthy baby girl, born with a full head of hair. The following month after she was born, my longtime partner and I tied the knot. I should write a post about our wedding someday soon, because it was an unconventional experience!
After having our daughter, I took time off from my day job to stay home and raise her. Last Christmas, I was a new and tired mom; but this time I have a toddler who has given me a refreshed perspective on life. She inspires me to choose happiness, and I want to make sure that she is as proud of me as I am of her each day.
I hope that the content of this blog has helped my readers to feel inspired in a similar way. Inspired to try new things, and experience life through a positive mindset. The world is a troubling place, so it is important recognize how special each of us are.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you have a great week of preparing for the holiday season!

Spring is nearly here: however in Southern Ontario, that does not always mean it will be warm outside or without snow.
The weather has been trite with gloomy over cast and threats of blizzards this week; so I decided to create a piece that would be an antithesis to current moods.
I call my latest piece: Jaune (yellow) Tide.
I integrated bright yellows, cerulean blues, aqua, and green hues in vibrant splashes on a gallery wrapped canvas. My favourite parts of this piece are the bright expanses of Yellow that bring warmth and happiness to the eye. The aqua is a nice offset against the blue as well.
As with many of my paintings, it can be hanged in any orientation; although it is difficult for me to decide where to sign each piece. I may adopt a symbol for signing my work in the future, so as to reduce the impact of a signature.
This was one of my first canvases that I made from scratch; by cutting knotty pine to size and using wood glue and staples to secure the rectangular shape. I don’t think i had discovered gesso yet, so I made a mixture of white acrylic paint, Elmer’s glue, and wood glue to prime the cotton material for painting.
As a sewing aficionado, I have a rather large collection of fabric that I keep in my studio. It has resulted in a great segway into stretched canvas creation for my paintings. (You can bet your pants that I will explain more about that in a future post)
