Gold acrylic triangle with black

My latest 10 x 10 inch// 25 x 25 cm acrylic on canvas continues my study of singular-focused images against black negative space. This piece features a heavily textured triangle shape that is entirely golden. Gold light I took photos of in the light, and so the shine of the black acrylic paint allows the viewer to also see raised texture floating in the blackness. Here (below) is a shot with the brightness turned down, and the contrast brought up to maximum. The painting has a much sexier look with… Read more Gold acrylic triangle with black

Blue and Silver Acrylic on Black

My latest 10 x 10 inch // 25 cm x 25 cm piece is an acrylic on canvas, with blue and silver blended over a black negative space. I have been having strong desires to paint with black negative space, (or white), and focusing on depicting experiences that float over darkness like an echo. Deep stuff. What makes the concept special to me, is that I have been able to capture a sweet spot in my backyard garden that with the correct sunlight, my work dazzles! My latest piece depicts… Read more Blue and Silver Acrylic on Black

Cream-Swirl of Moss Green Acrylic on Canvas

My latest piece was an unexpected development of blending and contrasting colours. Using acrylic pour techniques, hunter green and moss are suspended in each other to give the appearance of cream meeting coffee. The left and bottom edges have paint splatter to amp up the drama and turbulence of the environment, while yellow specks of sunlight peek through the dense cloud space. The title of this work is simply G.C. My favourite part of the work is seen above- the meeting of the light creamy green with dark green. The… Read more Cream-Swirl of Moss Green Acrylic on Canvas

Pink and Gold Acrylic Art

Welcome back! Thank you for checking in to see my latest abstract acrylic artwork entitled “Ovation”. This 13 x 13 inch (33 cm x 33 cm) piece was created during a celebratory mood. I stretched premium 100% cotton canvas over thick 2 x 2 inch wood, and double primed the paint surface with gesso. I used acrylic pouring and splattering techniques to illustrate surprise and joy. I tried a new technique by allowing base layers to dry, and adding light rose and pale pink blob-patterns that have a pearlescent glaze… Read more Pink and Gold Acrylic Art

Green and Blue Blended Acrylic on Sun Canvas Art

I frequently represent the sun in my art work. It adds a heavy presence and deep meaning to my art. Sometimes the subject is an abstract of an earthly landscape, and other times not. One of the things that I enjoy the most about creating art is the feedback I get from other people describing what they see. Art is truly as subjective as they say, and so I think the meaning, impression and other descriptors of a piece must change depending on who is looking.  I love the sun.… Read more Green and Blue Blended Acrylic on Sun Canvas Art
