Portrait illustrations for hire

I am currently offering a service via Instagram to sketch portraits starting at $2.99. Visit @Illustratemoi and send me a direct message with your idea. I am enjoying illustration so much! Creating is such a large part of me, and I feel as though I must always make things. Cooking, baking, sewing, painting, drawing; you name it, I love to take raw materials and make things. Illustration is perfect for this time in my life, because I rarely have time to pull out my sewing machine; painting on canvas also… Read more Portrait illustrations for hire

Portrait illustrations

My latest illustrations have improved from earlier work. This quick sketch came out like a simple logo. The line work is incomplete, and I had some problems with the source image. I found it difficult to see the small details, and as a result, details like the nose and line work for the ears are missing. There is a bit of shading, but the work is generally plain. This illustration is similar in its simplicity, but is more finished that the previous one. The source image was a woman with… Read more Portrait illustrations

Illustration update

Greetings, My latest illustrations are more complex than my earlier work. I am using more colours and layers for each work as my knowledge of the Autodesk Sketchbook program increases. The original photo did not feature blue reflective lenses, but I like to draw sunglasses in this way.… Read more Illustration update

Introducing a free eBook

Greetings, I am happy to announce that my labor of love is complete: I have finished my first eBook. It is a short and simple guide that provides tips for success in writing your own blog. Since beginning this art blog, I have toyed with the idea of writing instructional materials to support my content. As the child of teachers I have always been asked if teaching was in my blood. I usually denied this idea, and proclaimed that teaching was not for me because I had the idea of… Read more Introducing a free eBook

Illustrating simple geometric patterns

My latest work in illustration has been the creation of simple geometric patterns against solic backgrounds of colour. This untitled illustration was a quick and happy one. Using an ink pen, I enlarged the brush size to get a thick circumference. I selected the symmetry option and using the line tool I began to draw line segments that connected at (what I hope are) 90 degree angles. I finished the quick draw by adding smiles for the little man sitting at the top. (hee hee). Some of the patterns have… Read more Illustrating simple geometric patterns
