Coming Soon- Free Short Story-Romance

Greetings!

I am currently working on a fictional short story that will be posted on the Anieksteph blog for free. It is a romance story about unexpected love, taking place in Toronto, Canada.

I Remember you Title Cover

I hope you get the opportunity to download the free story which will be available next week. You can read a sneak peak of it below:

I remember you…

Once upon a time I thought I would be a great artist, and world traveller. Unfortunately for me, I never warmed up to airplane travel, and felt better with my feet on the ground. I tried to travel by boat, yet even the overwhelming feeling of being surrounded by water was too much to overcome. I thought that I might drown just from breathing the air. Or that being on a boat could result in a wave cascading over us and obliterating everyone on board into nothing.

So I stayed on land.

Traveling by car or bus was to be the only viable way to travel for me; but the traffic and pollution suffocated me in my small Toronto neighbourhood. Any trip on a motorized vehicle seemed to take ages. A bus made too many stops. A private car or taxi was too constricting; and even motorcycles had their dangers that made them impossible to depend on. And so, I would ride my bike to anywhere I needed to go. When I wanted to travel, I would organize a ride share, hop on a train, or pick up a book and visit the desired destination mentally.

I worked nearby at a government building pushing pens and paper from one side of my desk to another each day from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. I didn’t literally push items around my desk, but that is the way working for the government feels. At the end of any given week, I feel as though the only difference I made was in the moving of the items on my desk from one end to the other. Nothing changes when you work hard in a government job. No real rewards are granted- and unless your goal is to dig yourself deeper into the proverbial bullshit, (buying and moving up the chain into management): you must find a way to survive. You need to make your existence about something else other than work.

My life was supposed to be different. I was supposed to be an artist, but none of it was in the cards of lady luck for me. My day to day life until now has been filed with work, being at home, and artistry. I am hopelessly single, and have no prospect for oncoming romances unless I am blindsided by a stranger who probably doesn’t exist.

Check back next week to read the entire short story.

Thank you for visiting, and come again soon.

Black Mistresses Illustration Project

I have been writing for years. I first experienced the spark when I was in high school. I would spend hours reading fiction and devouring stories that I enjoyed. I would scour new and old books to find the perfect combination of characters and plots until it became increasingly difficult to find exactly what I was looking for.

After reading fiction, romance, thrillers, erotica and crime, I found that it was difficult to pin down stories that captivated my interest in the ways I preferred. I decided that one way to approach this ennui would be to write some of my own stories. By writing my own fiction I could control the plot and characters.

The task of writing my own fiction is monumental. Finding time to write, edit, and finish work is always a challenge. In addition to that, the spark of inspiration can be fleeting. I have had experiences where I wrote an entire short story consisting of 4,000 words in half of one day, because the spark of my inspiration for the story grabbed a hold of me and would not let me go. It was as though I was completely incensed to get the words and feelings off of my mind. This all consuming spark is rare of course, but I can testify that it is all too real.

My latest illustration work is the cover of an ebook that I have been working on. The book is under a pen name, so for the context of this blog post, let’s just say that I edited the book.

The title of the book is called:

Black Mistresses.

It is an anthology of short stories that center around BWWM (Black Women and White Men) fantasies. The work is entirely fictionalized, and based in pure erotica.

The ebook is available on Amazon.

I illustrated the book cover as a way to provide insight to the reader and visually explain what the book is about. I chose a sexy illustration of the back curves of a black woman to further emphasize the erotic nature of the book’s contents. If you are a fan of this genre and type of literature, I highly recommend this for great bedtime reading.

Introducing a free eBook

Greetings,

I am happy to announce that my labor of love is complete: I have finished my first eBook.

It is a short and simple guide that provides tips for success in writing your own blog. Since beginning this art blog, I have toyed with the idea of writing instructional materials to support my content.

As the child of teachers I have always been asked if teaching was in my blood. I usually denied this idea, and proclaimed that teaching was not for me because I had the idea of teaching children ingrained within my mind. After taking a course on training and development in human resources I realize that I actually enjoy teaching. The only difference is that I enjoy teaching and instructing adults as opposed to children. The “pedagogy” or concept behind teaching adults is different from teaching children, and I am better suited with the temperament of mature individuals.

I enjoy training and teaching people who find the information useful, so I decided to write a short eBook to help others who may have an interest in starting their own blog.

Tips for creating Runway styles in 2018

Do you want to create personal fashion that is cutting edge? Do you fancy the idea of people stopping to compliment your unique style so much that it gets mistaken for something from a runway fashion show? Here are some helpful tips to have your personal fashion designs noticed and featured on trend blogs.

Be as daring as possible.

Many times what sets the fashion of Alexander Wang vs another label like Joe Fresh is the willingness to be daring and approach a conventional garment with fresh eyes.

Admirers will say “Wow, I had never thought about that before!”, and you may have trend watchers considering your design as a novel concept all together.

Tip: Be creative with garment closures and embellishments. Approach them in an unconventional way.

Colour is your friend

Even if the folkways dictate that your colour scheme clashes- continue on. Softer hues can often take the edge off, and don’t forget to consult the almighty colour wheel to see if a “bluer” tinge to your steely grey could give the effect you are looking for.

One trend we are watching this year in 2018 in home decor is eclecticism. Eclectic trends allow you to mix a contemporary lamp with a mid-century modern side table- or floral pink and yellow peonies against a dark navy backdrop.

Tip: Have fun with colour, and when in doubt, go back to the first tip!

Emulate scarcity and promote luxury in your runway style fashion design

Ever notice how much Crocodile and snake skin bags can go for? Somehow, the manufacturers use small amount of this material and price their items very high. The underlying idea here is that as a luxury material, there is not enough crocodile and snake skin to go around. But really, the numbers of these animals in the wild is astonishing. Not an unending resource by any means, but more than enough for the cost of my wallet to be 75% cheaper.

When making your runway style fashion design, another strategy is to use a material that is super to begin with, and that exudes the feel of luxury. Then use a small amount of it to emphasize the delicate nature of the material, and to covertly express the exclusive nature of having access to it. Think about most of the clothing you have ever seen made with raw silk. Mostly lingerie, scarves or other small items are made from raw silk- and you will rarely ever see a large garment. The idea here is to think exclusive, original, and not cheap.

Tip: Skimp on the quantity of materials, but use high end quality and make it finely.

There you have it!

Create your own runway-style personal fashion that will have trend watchers thinking “Was that resort Balmain 2019?”, or better.

RED: The Heart Beats

Inspiration comes in many forms; and for this piece I was inspired by love and the heart.

20170221_215742.jpg

St Valentine’s Day was last week, and as usual we become inundated with images of cutesy cartoon hearts, and cherubs with messages telling us to show love to our friends and family by spending money.

Most of what we purchase are useless trinkets that do very little to further any true affect for our loved ones, but fills the empty space of an average cosmopolitan existence. I suppose that is a topic for another day.

My latest piece is a reflection of the heart, without the fake imagined sentiment. The heart beats. It supplies blood to organs, and for most  of us we can only pray that it does not stop beating too soon.
